Snita Mahey comes from the UK to rock Bollywood

Snita lived in UK before coming to India and as a kid she would run to her room & put on an Indian dress while watching Bollywood movies & start dancing. The sexy seductress from Soham Shah’s Luck says that she knew it back then that acting in Bollywood was her true calling.

“It was an experience of a lifetime, to work with the best in the Industry for my debut film, I couldn’t have asked for a much better beginning,” says Snita Mahey who has worked with Sanju baba, Soham Shah & Imran Khan in her debut movie. Born & brought up in London, Snita featured in the steamy title track 'Aazma Luck' of the movie with Sanjay Dutt. Snita got a lot of appreciation for her role in Soham Shah’s Luck and is over the moon today. (should be)

“Everyone made me feel home on the sets of Luck, Sanjay sir was a gem & I’m overjoyed with the response I’ve received. Luck is one of a kind film, it was a challenging experience indeed but also the most exciting. I love Soham’s work, Kaal was a treat and the film in itself was so different from anything ever made before,” says Snita. The actress who grew up watching Hindi films wouldn’t mind doing skinshow or an Item number again but doesn’t want to be stereotyped in a certain category and be left behind.

Snita Mahey is working hard & is gearing herself for her future projects, “For me its all about good work, I didn’t think twice before signing on for Luck and neither did I worry myself about being overshadowed. I believe in building myself and doing something different, I could have gone for a dancing around the trees role but it wouldn’t satisfy me as an actor.”

Snita Mahey talks with the Indian Express

Snita Mahey talks with the Indian ExpressSnita Mahey is the proud owner of an iPod and after getting a recognition with the movie Luck she chats with the newspaper Indian Express. Here are the excerpts:

What’s on your iPod?
Azma Luck running over and over again — it’s the song from my film, Luck. Also since I’m a typical Punjaban, my bhangra tracks have to be on the iPod too.

What’s your DVD pick?
I absolutely love Transformers. I need a film to give me goose bumps.

Your favourite romantic scene?
All the scenes from The Notebook.

Which actor would you love to go on a date with and why?
Dermot Mulroney; he has the typical romantic and devilish look.

Which dialogue have you mouthed in front of the mirror the most?
My dialogues from Luck.

Who inspired you to become an actor?
It just came to me from within and I thought I’d try my luck.

The worst film you’ve ever watched?
The one that took the cake was the English movie Idiocracy.

Which film you wish you could be a part of?
There are many but Jab We Met and Namastey London for sure.

What makes you an actor?
I believe that to be an actor you need to believe in yourself enough. Self confidence, courage and conviction, the ability to dream big and yet keep your feet on the ground are what makes a real star. I also believe that training helps. I did acting classes with Kishore Namit Kapoor, I also learnt contemporary Bollywood dance and Kathak. I have even trained with Shiamak Davar to understand the significance of grandeur both in visuals and performance.

Quiz: Which movie is this dialogue from: I can talk in English, I can walk in English, I can run in English….because English is a phunny language.
Of course, I know this —Namak Halal.

Meet Snita Mahey

Snita Mahey was first seen on the silver screen in the movie Luck together with Imran Khan, Shruti Haasan & Sanjay Dutt. The sexy seductress of Luck regards herself as a new kid on the block. Here are a few interesting facts about the hot & happening Snita Mahey:

Birthday: 12-May

Interests: Singing (says she's a bathroom singer but is not as bad as other bathroom singers)

Favourite Actors: Hrithik Roshan & Akshay Kumar. Hrithik Roshan is mindblowing while Akshay Kumar is completely hilarious.

Favourite Actresses: Kareena Kapoor for her performance out of the world performance in Jab We Met

Favourite Movies: Jab We Met (Snita loves the childishness & natural performance of Bebo, says it cracks her up all the time)

A role Snita would love to reprise: Pakeezah (awe-inspiring & powerful role of Meena Kumari, it would be a dream to play that role for her)

Did you attend acting classes: I did a course from Kishore Namith’s acting classes but other than boosting my confidence it didn’t do much. Either you have it in you or you don’t.

Preconceived notion of Bollywood: I wasn’t really blind to it, but no matter where you are you have to be strong & learn how to handle such situations and people. Thankfully my parents have been my pillar of strength and due to their support I haven’t let such things get to me ever.

If not an actress: I really don’t know what I would have been!
